The DC Republican Party (DC GOP) is unique in the RNC as the only Urban Republican Party. Joanne will be a voice for the needs and interests of DC residents in the positions the RNC takes moving forward. These include enhancing public safety and support for police, enforcing federal immigration laws, economic opportunity with less regulation, support for small business, improving education including alternatives and a non-ideological approach emphasizing our American history, reducing healthcare costs, and common sense election integrity.
Joanne is especially familiar with the challenges DC voters face with respect to election integrity through her experience serving on the Board of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) for the past decade, including as Co-Chair and an officer most of this time, as well as on the Board of the Lawyers Democracy Fund (LDF). She plans to bring her background in election law to help address these challenges, most especially with support for the pending American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, which would make DC an example for requiring citizenship, a photo ID for in-person voting and absentee ballot requests, and cleaning up our voter rolls, among other reforms. Election Integrity is a top issue for the RNC as it is for Joanne.
